Using Biblical Principles to Help Overcome Fear

Fear is a normal emotion we all experience at once or another. It is a response to danger, real or perceived. Fear can help keep us safe from harm, but it can also be paralyzing and prevent us from living our best lives.

The Bible has much to say about how to deal with fear. Here are some biblical principles that can help us overcome fear:

1. God is in control. "But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand." - Isaiah 64:8 No matter what situation we find ourselves in, we can rest assured that God is in control. He is the potter, and we are the clay. We may not always understand His plan, but we can trust that He knows what He is doing.

2. We don't have to be afraid of what others think of us. "And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

We should never let fear of what others think of us prevent us from doing what is right. Their opinion of us does not define us - only God's opinion does. And His opinion of us is that we are loved unconditionally. So, we can rest in that love and not fear what others think.

3. We can't control everything, but we can control how we respond to things. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6

There are many things in this life that we cannot control, but we can choose how we will respond to them. For example, we can let fear take over or trust God and be strong and courageous instead. When we decide to trust God, He will never leave us or forsake us - He will be with us always.
