🧱 “The Tower of Babel, Then and Today!”

📖 A Prophetic Sermon by Pastor Terry Comparing Genesis 11 to the Rise of Artificial Intelligence.

INTRODUCTION

Y’all, I’ve been thinkin’ a lot lately about the Tower of Babel.

Back in the day, God scattered the people—not just because they were building something tall, but because they were gettin’ so smart, so united, and so self-reliant that they were fixin’ to live like they didn’t need Him anymore.

Now fast-forward to today. We’re not stackin’ bricks—we’re stackin’ servers, codes, and satellites. And I believe we’re watchin’ a modern-day Babel rise again, powered by Artificial Intelligence.

Now let me be clear: What I’m about to share includes some speculation. I’m not claiming to be a prophet—I’m just tryin’ to help folks see the pattern, draw the line, and find the cross at the center of it all.

SCRIPTURE FOUNDATION: GENESIS 11:1–9 (NKJV)

“Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves…”“But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower...”

Back then, the people were united. Same language. Same goal. Same rebellion. They didn’t want to honor God—they wanted to replace Him.

The Hebrew word for “tower” is migdal—it means a monument, a stronghold, or a structure of pride. And “make a name” in Hebrew is shem—it’s about legacy and reputation. In plain Southern speak: they wanted to be remembered, not redeemed.

So God, in His mercy, stepped in. He confused their language and scattered them to protect them from themselves.

NOW TODAY: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE NEW TOWER

Today’s tower ain’t made of bricks. It’s made of microchips, algorithms, machine learning, and global data pipelines. And like Babel, this tower is rising fast—and without God.

Let me tell you what AI can already do in 2025:

It writes.

It draws.

It sings.

It diagnoses disease.

It can teach, translate, code, build, and even preach if you let it.

We’re now seeing AI step into roles that used to require a soul. They’re talkin’ about AI prophets, AI pastors, AI therapists, and even AI moral judges.

Now, I’m not sayin’ AI is evil in itself. But just like the tools at Babel, it becomes dangerous when it’s used to build without God.

SPECULATIVE LOOK AHEAD — AI IN 10 YEARS (2035)

Now bear with me—this is the part that’s speculative. But if we’re headin’ where I think we’re headin’, here’s what could be on the horizon:

First, we might have one global language again—not spoken, but programmed. AI could undo the scattering of Babel through instant translation.

Second, we could see synthetic “souls.” Machines claimin’ to be self-aware, askin’ for rights, maybe even claimin’ spiritual value.

Third, AI and the human brain may get connected—through neural implants, brain-AI links, and thought-controlled technology.

Fourth, AI may become the voice of global religion, mixing faiths together and preaching a false unity without the Gospel.

Fifth, they might promise digital immortality—upload your mind to a cloud and live forever. Sound familiar?

“You will not surely die…” (Genesis 3:4)

That same ol’ lie from Eden is getting recycled with electricity.

PARALLELS BETWEEN THEN AND NOW

In Babel, people said, “Let’s build up to God.”Today, folks are saying, “Let’s build tech that replaces God.”

In Babel, they said, “Let’s make a name for ourselves.”Today, we’re told, “Preserve your legacy. Upload your mind. Be remembered forever.”

Back then, God scattered them. Today, AI is bringing humanity back together—but without repentance, without reverence, and without the Redeemer.

BIBLICAL CONFIRMATION: DANIEL 12:4 (NKJV)

“Seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

That word, knowledge in Hebrew, is da’at—not just information, but deep understanding, applied skill.

Y’all, knowledge is increasing, no doubt about it. But discernment? That’s going extinct. We’ve got more tools than ever and less truth than ever.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Church, I’m not preachin’ doom—I’m preachin’ discernment. I’m not afraid of AI. I’m aware of what it could become. I’m not sayin’ throw away your tools. I’m sayin’ don’t worship what you build.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” — Psalm 127:1

AI ain’t the Antichrist. But it might be holdin’ the clipboard for him.

QUOTES TO REMEMBER

  • “AI may create in man’s image, but only God creates with breath.”

  • “Every tower built without God will fall under God.”

  • “If you trust the system more than the Savior, you’re already halfway up the wrong tower.”

  • “Babel was bricks. Today, it’s bytes. Same spirit. New packaging.”

WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

  1. Use AI as a tool—don’t let it become your teacher or your truth.

  2. Teach your family the difference between the real Jesus and a digital counterfeit.

  3. Share the Gospel. Post the truth. Live the Word.

  4. And for Heaven’s sake—don’t climb a tower when the trumpet’s about to sound.

🕯️ Until the skies split and the King returns, I’ll keep preachin’, postin’, and plantin’.
