💥 SERMON TITLE: “What Kind of Words Are You Living By?”

Subtitle: Mixing Truth or Manufacturing Excuses?

✝️ TEXT:

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…”

🪓 PART 1: "Words mixed with God’s Word can change your life and save your soul. When your beliefs, desires, and direction align with God’s Word, you’re not just informed—you’re transformed.

Supporting Scriptures:

  • Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

  • James 1:22 – “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

  • Romans 10:17 – “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Illustration: Imagine a recipe with all the right ingredients… except no heat. God’s Word is the fire that cooks real change into your life. Without it, all you have is raw effort.

Statement:

“When my words agree with God’s Word, I walk in direction, correction, protection, and resurrection!”

🧪 PART 2: "Words without God’s Word can justify your beliefs and behavior."

Key Idea: Words can soothe your conscience while still feeding your rebellion. If it ain’t rooted in the Word, it’s just religious weed-killer sprayed over sin.

Supporting Scriptures:

  • 2 Timothy 4:3-4 – “…they will not endure sound doctrine… they will turn their ears away from the truth…”

  • Jeremiah 23:16 – “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless…”

  • Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

Illustration: It’s like using a GPS that hasn’t been updated in 20 years—you’ll end up on a road that no longer exists and feel justified because "that’s what the map said."

Statement:

“Just because it sounds good doesn’t mean it’s God.”

🔄 FINAL CONTRAST:

God’s Word convicts, corrects, and converts. Man’s words comfort, confuse, and control.

🚨 CALL TO ACTION:

“What words are forming your worldview—God’s, or yours? You don’t need to edit the Bible. You need to let the Bible edit you.”

🙏 ALTAR CALL:

Today, open your hearts to the Word like a surgeon’s scalpel—not to destroy but to remove what's killing you.
