Parenting God’s Way: The Privilege and Responsibility.

Parents, you have a blessed privilege and a solemn responsibility before the Lord. How you raise your children will align them with God's path or lead to heartache and grief. God has entrusted you with training your children according to His Word, and doing so will bring His blessings.

1. **Deuteronomy 6:6-7** – *"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home, walk along the road, lie down, and get up."*

God's Word must be the foundation of your home. His truths are for Sundays and everyday living—passed down through conversations, discipline, and example.

2. **Proverbs 22:6** – *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."*

Biblical parenting ensures that your children are prepared for life. This training lays the foundation for a lifetime of following Christ.

Imagine building a house. The strength of the foundation determines the durability of the structure. If a parent builds on the foundation of God's Word, their child's life will stand firm through the storms of life. If they neglect this foundation, the house will crumble under pressure. Parenting with biblical principles sets children up for success not only in this life but for eternity.

God values the family as a place where His love and truth are nurtured. **Colossians 1:10** tells us to *"walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work."* Parenting in a manner that pleases God bears fruit in your children's lives. However, when biblical principles are ignored, **Proverbs 17:25** warns that *"a foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the mother who bore him."* The stakes are high—your parenting will bring joy or sorrow.

There is hope! God promises blessings for those who obey His Word. **James 1:25** says, *"But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."* God is faithful in blessing the efforts of parents who raise their children in His ways. It's never too late to return to God's path, even if you've made mistakes.

Change:

1. **Repent and Commit to God's Way**: If you've been raising your children without grounding them in Scripture, start by repenting and committing to God's way. **1 John 1:9** promises that He will forgive us if we confess our sins.

2. **Make Scripture Central**: Begin making God's Word a daily part of your home life. Read Scripture together, pray as a family, and use everyday moments to teach biblical principles.

3. How to Remain Changed:**

1. **Be Consistent**: **Proverbs 29:17** – *"Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire."* Consistent, loving discipline rooted in God's Word will bring long-term peace to your home.

2. **Rely on God's Strength**: **Philippians 4:13** – *"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."* Parenting isn't easy, but through Christ's strength, you can raise your children in a way that honors Him.

Conclusion:

Parents, you have an incredible opportunity to shape your children's lives according to God's Word. Doing so will bring blessings to you and generations to come. Choose today to build your home on the solid foundation of Scripture.

Commit your family to the Lord. Start today by making God's Word the cornerstone of your parenting. The blessings of raising children in His ways far outweigh the cost.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of children. Help us, as parents, to raise them in Your ways, teaching them Your truth and disciplining them in love. Guide us with Your wisdom, and give us strength to be faithful in this calling.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
