Note on Honesty

Let us be honest with ourselves and with one another. This is essential in creating a world of trustworthiness and integrity. As it is written in Proverbs 12:17, "Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment."

The need for honesty has been reflected in the headlines, too, time and again. Just recently, the New York Times reported on a major medical device manufacturer slapped with criminal charges for deliberately misrepresenting the safety and effectiveness of its products. Unfortunately, this kind of dishonesty prevents accountability and can have devastating consequences.

Let us be reminded to strive for honesty in our own lives, words, and deeds. Let us live with conviction and courage to do what is right. Father, help us to be truthful so that our terms may endure forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.
