Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we await another crucial election, my heart is heavy, not with fear, but with the weight of responsibility. We are not just citizens of a country; we are citizens of the Kingdom of God. As His representatives, we must choose wisely and vote to honor Him and uphold the eternal truths found in His Word, not in the fleeting ideals of this world.
Biblical Foundation for Governance
The Word of God clearly states that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). Our vote is not just a political act but a declaration of what we stand for as followers of Christ. When Israel asked for a king, they didn't reject Samuel—they rejected God (1 Samuel 8:7). We must not make the same mistake, choosing leaders or policies that reject His sovereignty and righteousness.
Our nation was founded on principles that align closely with Biblical values—justice, personal responsibility, life's sanctity, and work's value. But in recent years, the rise of modern-day ideologies, like wokeness and cultural Marxism, has sought to uproot these values. These ideologies redefine morality, replace truth with feelings, and trade godly standards for a narrative built on division and victimhood.
What Biblical Principles Should We Uphold?
1. **Sanctity of Life**: God's Word declares that every life is sacred, knit together by His hand (Psalm 139:13-16). We must support leaders and policies that protect life from conception to natural death.
2. **Religious Freedom**: Scripture calls us to worship God freely and boldly (John 4:24). We need leaders to defend the church's ability to preach the Gospel without government interference or censorship.
3. **Justice and Righteousness**: We are to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8). However, true justice must be rooted in God's Word, not in the shifting sands of social agendas or political correctness.
4. **Biblical Family Structure**: God designed the family as the foundation of society (Genesis 2:24), and it is under attack. We must elect leaders who uphold the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman and who protect parental rights.
The Dangers of Preaching to Itching Ears
In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, Paul warned Timothy that a time would come when people would not endure sound doctrine but gather around themselves as teachers to say what their itching ears wanted to hear. Sadly, we see this today as some pastors have strayed from preaching the entire Gospel of Jesus Christ. Instead of teaching repentance and faith, they pander to cultural trends and preach a watered-down message designed to offend no one but fail to convict anyone.
These "preachers" may draw large crowds, but what good is it to gain the world and lose your soul (Mark 8:36)? The true Gospel does not conform to the world's standards, nor should we. Christ didn't come to tell people what they wanted to hear; He came to tell the truth, to bring sinners to repentance, and to give them the hope of eternal life. Those of us who preach the entire Gospel cannot compromise, even if it costs us the approval of men.
My Plea to You as a Pastor
As a pastor, I long for you to vote with God's Kingdom in mind. Do not be swayed by voices that speak to itching ears, offering false promises of equality or justice apart from God. We need leaders who will stand firm on the truth of Scripture, who will defend the unborn, uphold the sanctity of marriage, protect our religious freedoms, and govern with integrity.
This election is more than political; it's Spiritual. The enemy would love nothing more than to see God's people remain silent or vote for policies that further erode the Biblical foundation upon which this nation was built.
**Pray** before you vote. **Seek God's wisdom**. And as you do, remember that we are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16). The future of our nation depends on whether we will stand up for the truth or bow to the pressures of modern-day ideologies that reject God's Word.
May the Lord give you wisdom and courage as you vote for a nation that honors Him.
In Christ's love and truth,
Pastor Terry
