“A Father on Watch.”

Text: Ezekiel 33:7 – “Son of man, I have made you a watchman… therefore hear the word at My mouth, and give them warning from Me.”

🧔🏽‍♂️ INTRODUCTION: The Call of a Father

Today, we celebrate fathers — not just by blood, but by calling. God has not only called men to provide and protect, but to proclaim and prepare. Christian fathers are called to be watchmen — Spiritual sentinels for their homes.

Too many good men are watching sports more than they’re watching prophecy.They’re protecting their families physically, but leaving them uncovered spiritually.

Today, we honor fathers not by just giving them a tie — but by reminding them of their divine post.

🛡️ I. FATHERS ARE APPOINTED AS WATCHMEN

Ezekiel 33:7 – “I have made you a watchman...”

• God appoints men to their families as shepherds, not spectators.

• A watchman’s job: see what’s coming, and warn those in his care.

• Fathers must discern the times, disciple their children, and declare the truth, even when it's uncomfortable.

📖 1 Chronicles 12:32 – “...men who understood the times, and knew what Israel ought to do...”

• If the world is confused, the father should be clear.

• Your home should never be caught by surprise when prophecy unfolds.

🧠 II. TOO MANY GOOD MEN ARE ASLEEP AT THE GATE

📖 Mark 13:35–37 – “Watch therefore… lest He come suddenly and find you sleeping.”

• Good men who work hard, pay bills, love their families — but they’re

• Spiritually drowsy.

• Not watching what’s happening in Israel…

• Not talking about the return of Christ…

• Not preparing their children for the last days…

We need fathers who watch Fox and CNN through the lens of Revelation and Ezekiel 38, not fear — but faithful urgency.

🧔🏽‍♂️💬 ILLUSTRATION: THE NIGHT GUARD

A man once worked the night shift as a security guard. When asked what he did, he said,

“Mostly nothing... unless there’s danger. Then everything depends on me.”

Fathers — you may not think your family sees you praying. They may not thank you for reading the Word to them. But when danger comes — they’ll look to you. And everything will depend on your walk with God.

🕊️ III. FATHERS MUST PASS ON A PROPHETIC FAITH

📖 Deuteronomy 6:6–7 – “These words... shall be in your heart… teach them diligently to your children…”

• Fathers are disciples who make disciples.

• Teach your family:

  • Jesus is coming soon.

  • Israel matters to God.

  • The Bible is unfolding in real-time.

  • The Gospel is the ark in the storm.

You don’t have to be a theologian — just be a believing man who says,

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

✝️ IV. JESUS — OUR PATTERN OF PERFECT SONSHIP AND FATHERHOOD

John 5:19 – “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do...”

• Jesus modeled obedience, truth, love, and warning.

• He spoke of His Father’s house, His Father’s will, and His Father’s plan.

• Every earthly father can take his cue from our heavenly Father:

  • Speak truth in love

  • Lead by example

  • Prepare those you love for eternity

    
    

🔥 CLOSING WORD: THE HOLY SPIRIT MAKES A FATHER A WATCHMAN

Let the Holy Ghost wake up the hearts of fathers today! Not to walk in fear — but in bold faith, armed with the Word, filled with the Spirit, watching the times, and warning their families with love.

“Father, today we honor the men You’ve called. Wake them up. Fill them. Empower them to be the watchmen of their homes — not in fear, but in faith. May they rise like Ezekiel, speak like Joshua, and lead like Christ. Let their children remember: 'My daddy watched over me — not just with his eyes, but with his prayers.' In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

🛟 Closing Charge:

Fathers, your family doesn't need you to be perfect — they just need you on watch. A man on his knees is more dangerous to hell than an army of scholars. So stand your post, sound the alarm, and get your family ready.Because Jesus is coming soon.
