“Welded to the Lawless.”

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” — Matthew 24:12 (NKJV)
Church, I want you to hear this: Jesus didn’t say lawlessness might abound; He said it will. The Greek word is ἀνομία (anomia) — literally, “no law,” “contempt for law,” “defiance of God’s order.” This is not just a rebellion against man’s rules; it’s a rebellion against the very authority of Almighty God.
1. What Lawlessness Looks Like Today
Now let me bring this home. We don’t have to look far to see anomia in action:
In the Streets: Cities Refuse to Prosecute Blatant Theft. Stores are locked up, not because of shortages, but because stealing has been rebranded as “justice.” Friend, theft is still theft in God’s eyes. “You shall not steal” hasn’t been repealed (Exodus 20:15).
In the Schools: Little children are being told they can choose their own identity, even against their parents’ wishes. That’s not education — that’s indoctrination. Isaiah warned us: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20).
At the Borders: Nations once defended sovereignty. Now, some leaders call open lawlessness “compassion.” Friend, compassion without order is not compassion; it is chaos.
In the Courts: Judges celebrate what God calls an abomination, while silencing prayer and punishing righteousness. Paul asked, “What fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). The answer is none.
In the Home: Families are broken, fathers are absent, and marriage is redefined. Malachi said, “God hates divorce” (Malachi 2:16). Why? Because He knows fractured homes fracture nations.
2. Why Silence is Dangerous
Now listen closely: Not resisting lawlessness welds you to the lawless.
Romans 6:16 says, “To whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey.”
If you wink at sin, excuse it, or stay silent about it, you’ve already taken a side. Amos 3:3 asks, “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Silence in the face of evil is agreement. You may think you’re staying neutral, but in Heaven’s court, you’re signing a partnership with wickedness.
3. The Spirit Behind It
This spirit of lawlessness is not limited to social or political spheres. It is prophetic. Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 2:7, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.”
That “mystery of lawlessness” is the spirit of antichrist. Every time an order is removed, every time truth is silenced, every time good is mocked, it’s preparing the world for the one who will embody lawlessness — the Antichrist himself.
Look around: digital currency rollouts, global elites rewriting financial systems, surveillance framed as “safety.” Each piece sets the stage for a world where lawlessness can masquerade as leadership.
4. The Call to Resist
James 4:7 tells us, “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Resisting means:
Calling sin what it is, even when society renames it.
Protecting your family from wicked influences.
Refusing to bow when truth is mocked.
Living out holiness in a crooked generation.
Friend, resistance is not optional. To resist lawlessness is to align with the holiness of Christ.
5. A Word of Hope
Here’s the good news: While the world shakes, the Church stands on a Rock that cannot be moved. Lawlessness may abound, but grace abounds much more (Romans 5:20).
And hear me — your voice matters. One light in a dark room changes everything. One Man or one Woman who refuses to compromise can turn the tide in their family, workplace, or town.
Close:
Beloved, this is not just about them out there. It’s about us in here. Have you let compromise weld you to the wrong crowd? Have you tolerated what God calls sin?
Today is the day to cut those chains. Stand with Christ. Stand in truth. Resist lawlessness with holiness, with courage, and with the love of Jesus Christ.
Because neutrality is no longer an option.
If you don’t resist lawlessness, you are welded to it.
