Notes From Psalm 91

Psalm 91 is an incredible source of Comfort, Protection, and Guidance. In these verses, God reminds us that He will always be our refuge and shield in times of trouble. This Psalm encourages us to believe in Him, knowing He will protect and guide us no matter what.

Verse: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Highest will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

Comment: We can take refuge in God during difficult times. He provides a haven for those who put their trust and faith in Him.

Illustration: Just as birds find safety from dangerous predators among branches and live high up in trees, we, too, can find refuge and peace in God’s protection. He is the ultimate shelter for His people and will never leave us alone or forsake us.

Application: Instead of turning to sophisticated solutions, we can put our trust in God’s unfailing protection that promises never to let us go. When times are hard, we can remind ourselves of these comforting words from Psalm 91 and that God will always be there for us no matter what.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being our shelter in times of need. Help us to trust You and Your promises of protection every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Verse: “You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day” (Psalm 91:5).

Comment: God promises to protect us from all types of danger. We can trust Him to guard and watch over us no matter what we face.

Illustration: Although darkness and fear may seem overwhelming, we can remember that God is watching over us like a loyal sentinel keeping guard against all harm or danger. When we feel overwhelmed, we can take reassurance in His presence and trust that He is in control.

Application: When the darkness of fear or worry overwhelms us, let's remember to rely on God's promises of protection. He will never leave us alone and walk us through every situation. So, let's seek Him out and put our trust in Him. In doing so, He will be our faithful sentinel and guard us against all harm.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that you promise to protect me no matter what danger I face. Help me to trust in Your presence and to rely on Your promises. Teach me how to seek You out and put my trust in You. Be my faithful sentinel, Lord, and guard me against all harm. Amen.

Verse: “He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings, you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler” (Psalm 91:4).

Comment: This verse speaks of God’s complete faithfulness and protection. He will cover us like a mother bird protects her chicks under her wings. His faithfulness is a strong shield that guards us against all evil.

Verse: “No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling” (Psalm 91:10).

Comment: No matter what we face or go through, we can trust that God will keep us safe from harm or danger. We are secure when we dwell in His presence.

Illustration: Just as a shepherd guards his flock against harm, God watches over us and guides us to safety. He leads us on the path of righteousness and shows us what is right.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
