Living the Christian Life, In Today's Society.

Living the Christian life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ involves embracing and embodying His teachings in our daily interactions, decisions, and relationships. This lifestyle is guided by fundamental principles drawn from the Bible. Here are a few:

  1. Love God and Love Others: According to Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40, the greatest commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." The second is to "Love your neighbor as yourself." In today's society, this can be lived out by putting God first in our lives and showing love, kindness, and respect to all people, regardless of race, religion, or social status.

  2. Follow the Golden Rule: In Matthew 7:12, Jesus instructs," So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" This means treating others with kindness and respect, not because they necessarily deserve it, but because it is correct.

  3. Be a Peacemaker: In Matthew 5:9, Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" In a world often filled with conflict and division, Christians are called to promote peace, harmony, and reconciliation.

  4. Serve Others: Jesus taught by example that greatness comes from serving others. In Mark 10:45, He says, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" This can be practiced in today's society by volunteering to help those in need and putting others' interests ahead of our own.

  5. Seek God’s Kingdom First: According to Matthew 6:33, "God'sothers'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This means prioritizing God's will and righteousness above our desires and ambitions.

  6. Live in Forgiveness: Jesus emphasized the importance of forgiveness in several passages, like Matthew 6:14-15: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But your Father will not forgive your sins if you do not forgive others." Therefore, Christians are called to forgive others, just as God has forgiven them.

  7. Share the Good News: In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus instructs His followers to "go and make disciples of all nations." This can be practiced today by sharing one's faith with others, not forcefully or disrespectfully, but lovingly and patiently.

  8. Trust in God: Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us to "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This encourages Christians to trust in God's wisdom and guidance, even when life's circumstances are challenging or uncertain.

These are just some of the ways that Christians can strive to live according to the teachings of Jesus in today's society. Of course, the Christian life is a journey, and no one is perfect, but the goal is to become more Christ-like in our thoughts, words, and actions daily.
