How to raise your Children Biblically in a Secular World. Part Six.

Welcome back to our sermon series on "How to raise your children biblically in a secular world." Today, we'll discuss this critical topic's sixth and final part. As we've seen in our previous sermons, raising children in a secular world can be challenging, but with God's help, raising children who will love and serve Him is possible.

Our scripture reading for today comes from Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

As parents, we are responsible for training our children in how they should go. We should teach them the values and principles essential to us as Christians. In a secular world, it can be tempting to let the culture around them influence our children, but we must remember that we are called to be in the world, but not of it.

So, how can we raise our children biblically in a secular world?

  1. Set a godly example - Our children will learn more from our actions than words. So we must live out our faith in front of them and show them what it means to follow Christ.

  2. Teach them God's Word - We must teach our children the Bible and help them to understand its relevance to their lives. We can do this by reading the Bible with them, memorizing scripture together, and discussing how God's Word applies to their daily lives.

  3. Pray with them - Prayer is powerful, and we must teach our children to pray. We can pray with them before meals, bed, and day. We should also encourage our children to pray for their friends, family, and the world around them.

  4. Encourage them to serve - Serving others is vital to our Christian faith. Therefore, we should encourage our children to help others and show them how to make a difference.

  5. Set boundaries - In a secular world, we must set boundaries for our children. We should be intentional about what we allow them to watch, listen to, and participate in. We should also be clear about our expectations and consequences for disobedience.

  6. Show them love - Finally, we must show our children love. We should love them unconditionally and ensure they know our love for them is not based on their performance. We should also take the time to listen to them and show interest in their lives.

In conclusion, raising children Biblically in a secular world is not easy, but it is possible. We must be intentional about setting a godly example, teaching them God's Word, praying with them, encouraging them to serve, setting boundaries, and showing them love. As we do these things, we can trust that God will bless our efforts and guide our children on the right path. Thank you for joining us today, and may God bless you and your family.
