An Overview of the Impact of Biblical Illiteracy in the Church Today.

Biblical illiteracy is a growing problem within the Church today. With fewer and fewer people reading the Bible, it has become increasingly easy for false beliefs to take root and spread throughout the church.

This issue has been further exacerbated by an overall decrease in Biblical literacy levels among Believers. Certain key areas have been impacted, in particular, due to this illiteracy.

The understanding and interpretation of core Christian doctrines have been compromised in many Churches due to Biblical illiteracy. Without a thorough knowledge of Scripture, there is more room for misinterpretation and confusion about what the Bible teaches. This can lead to some dangerous false teaching being accepted by Church members without real challenge.

Biblical illiteracy has also led to decreased Spiritual formation among Churchgoers. Without the foundation of a deep understanding of the Bible, Believers may miss out on opportunities for growth and transformation that can come from studying Scripture.

This can lead to apathy and stagnation in the Spiritual lives of many Christians, who feel disconnected from God and unable to progress in their faith.

Amos 8:11-12 (The Message Bible) “Oh yes, Judgment Day is coming!” These are the words of my Master God. “I’ll send a famine through the whole country. It won’t be food or water that’s lacking, but my Word. People will drift from one end of the country to the other, roam to the north, and wander to the east. They’ll go anywhere, listen to anyone, hoping to hear God’s Word—but they won’t hear it.
