What If I Don't Feel Like It?

As believers in Jesus, we have a certain standard that God wants us to live by. One of the most important things we can do is love God with our hearts. That means obeying God's Words in the Bible, even if we don't always "feel" like it. To help explain this, we have some Bible verses that can help guide us.

The first verse is I Samuel 15:22-23. This verse talks about how disobedience to God is like rejecting him altogether. If we don't follow God's Words, we go against his love and care for us.

The next verse is Matthew 22:37-40. This verse shows us that loving God and others is the most important thing we could ever do. Jesus said this to his disciples, so we know it's essential!

John 14:15, 21 says that if we love Jesus, we will obey his commands. This is another way to show our love for God and Jesus. By doing what they ask, we show that we care about them and want to please them.

* * * Note: To serve others "Never" includes going against God's Standards!

Galatians 5:16-17 talks about how our natural desires can sometimes lead us away from God. This verse reminds us to listen to the Holy Spirit instead of our "feelings." Following God's leading, we can obey him and make good choices.

Finally, Ist John 5:3 says that loving and obeying God go hand in hand. In other words, we can't say we love God if we don't do what he says. We must obey God's Word to show genuine love for him.

So, what does all of this mean for you? As a believer, you have a unique opportunity to show God how much you love him. Even when it's hard, try to obey what God says in the Bible. This might mean being kind to someone mean to you, forgiving someone who hurt you, or telling the truth even when it's scary. These things might be challenging, but they are worth it because they show our love for God and help us grow closer to him.
