God's Character and Our Problem
God is Just: This means God is fair and proper in everything He does. We face God's punishment because we all do wrong things (sin). This is like when a judge in a courtroom has to make sure the law is followed. (Verses: Romans 1:18, 6:23a; Ephesians 2:3; Hebrews 9:27; II Peter 3:7)
God is Loving: At the same time, God doesn't want us to be separated from Him because of our wrong choices. He loves us and wants us to be with Him. It's like a parent who loves their child and wants the best for them, even when they make mistakes. (Verses: John 3:16; Romans 5:8; I Timothy 2:3-4; II Peter 3:9)
Jesus Draws Us to God
God uses His love to pull us towards Jesus. It's like when someone guides you to the right path when you're lost. (Verses: John 6:44-45, 65)
The Answer in Jesus Christ
God's Gracious Gift: Because of His great love and mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus, to solve our Spiritual problem. We can't fix our mistakes on our own, but Jesus can. It's like being stuck in a deep hole and someone reaching down to pull you out. (Verses: Isaiah 53:2-12; John 3:16, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:6; Ephesians 1:3-12; I Timothy 2:5-6; I John 4:10)
Jesus Paid the Price: We can't earn God's love or Save ourselves – it's a gift. Jesus took the punishment for our wrongdoings by dying on the cross. This is like someone paying a huge fine for us that we could never pay on our own. (Verses: Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; II Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 5:8; I Corinthians 15:3-4; II Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7; I Thessalonians 1:10; I Timothy 2:5-6; Hebrews 10:10-14; I Peter 1:18-19, 3:18).
This message emphasizes the balance of God's justice and love and the incredible role of Jesus in bridging the gap between our imperfections and God's perfection.
